Worm's Eye View

Where will I turn in my work?

  • Turn your final edited photos into appropriate period's "Worm's Eye View" folder on the Photo Server

  • Contact Sheets are submitted via Canvas with final photos noted in the comments section

Photo Requirements:

  • 3 Final photos using extreme angles looking upward

  • Each Photo should be of a different subject

  • 1 photo should be taken outside of school and two should be taken using a DSLR at school

  • 36+ photos submitted on Canvas via a contact sheet

Editing Requirements:

  • 8x10 or 10x8

  • 300 dpi (resolution)

  • Duplicate background copy

  • 3+ adjustment layers that improve your photo

  • TIFF file extension

  • Proper naming protocol followed - Last Name _ First Name _ Worm _ 1

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Your instructor will go through the slideshow below in class with tips and tricks for creating strong compositions using unusual angles, specifically a worm's eye view.  If you happen to be absent, look through the slide deck and follow up by asking your instructor any questions you might have.

  2. Take a minimum of 36 photographs focusing on the use of an extreme upwards looking angle.  Be sure your subject is in crisp focus and is well lit.

  3. Download your photos to your computer.

  4. Create a contact sheet for your photos using the posted tutorial below.  Remember to submit your contact sheet using Canvas.  Be sure to note which 3 photos you are submitting as your final images in the comments box in Canvas.

  5. Select your 3 strongest photos that meet the requirements listed above. 

  6. Put your photos through workflow.

  7. Turn your photo in on the Photo Server. Be sure to follow proper naming protocol so your file is titled "Last Name _ First Name _ Worm_1" with the file extension .tif
