Step-by-Step Instructions:

- Your instructor will go through the slideshow below in class. If you happen to be absent, look through the slide deck and follow up by asking your instructor any questions you might have. The point of this assignment is to understand how a collections works to implement a body of work and to implement high contrast exposure. When selecting a theme pick something that is unique and individual to you. What are you interested in? What are you passionate about? Does it have to do with how something looks? Or perhaps it about a specific subject? Your theme should be clear and obvious to an outsider viewer without you having to say anything. Consider a back up theme or changing course if your first theme doesn't work out!

- Take a minimum of 36 photographs using a variety of subjects where the photography clearly uses the Rule of Thirds.  Be sure your subject is in crisp focus and is well lit.

- Download your photos to your computer.

- Create a contact sheet for your photos using the posted tutorial below.  Remember to submit your contact sheet using Canvas.  Be sure to note which 6 photos you are submitting as your final images in the comments box in Canvas.

- Select your 6 strongest photos that meet the requirements listed above.

- Put your photos through workflow. It is highly encouraged that you use some or all elements of the High Contrast Black and White Photoshop assignment in this project in ADDITION to the normal workflow. My best suggestion is to put your photo through regular workflow first, then turn it black and white, and lastly, use the high contrast workflow if the photo still hasn't achieved a high contrast exposure.

- Turn your photo in on the Photo Server. Be sure to follow proper naming protocol so your file is titled "Last Name _ First Name _ ThematicBW_1" with the file extension .tif
